On an unseasonably hot, sticky morning a surgical team waits for the head surgeon to show up at the private clinic on the small island of Lonosa, 260 kilometers from Tunisia. Normally, the surgeons, mostly Europeans, are flown in by private jet to the clinic, where they are paid in cash in the denomination of their choice and sworn to secrecy about the operations they perform.
Today, there is one exception: a wealthy ex-Syrian banker, who recently laundered money for the Syrian regime and other terrorist organizations like Group 786, requires a hip replacement, but unfortunately for him, the scheduled surgeon is not available. Instead, the operation is performed by a substitute American doctor, who makes a fatal error and ends the banker’s life.
